A special event was held at Jinji Lake Art Museum in SIP on May 18, allowing the participants to enjoy wonderful music performances while appreciating contemporary artworks including paintings, sculptures and installations.
The event, designed to mark the International Museum Day on the day, was held in the hall where the contemporary art exhibition themed “Where the Spirit Returns to” was underway.
The performers from Soochow University School of Music gave performances with a diversity of Chinese and Western instruments, allowing the audience to experience the multifaceted nature of art through varying timbres.
Pianist Dr. Han Yu performed “Namtso”, and Young pianist Zhou Sicong performed Maurice Ravel’s “Ondine”, creating a unique audio-visual experience with the surrounding artworks for the audience.
Dr. Meng Xiaojie, China’s first female with a doctorate in bamboo flute performance, played “Luan Hong”, forming a fascinating dialogue with the “Slow Creation” series created by artist Shan Fan.
Additionally, Leon Hillebrands, a German cellist, and several students from Soochow University School of Music gave amazing performances.
