BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems (Suzhou) Co Ltd, a branch of American multinational automotive supplier BorgWarner, has stunned the world with a set of “green data”, setting a good example for electrification in the global auto sector.

The company has integrated the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) concept into its R&D, production and supply chain. Its first-phase factory realized zero carbon operation in 2023, and its second-phase R&D center and factory received the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold label in the same year.

The factory of the company features Low-E glass, LED and solar lights, roof-mounted solar panels for power generation, intelligent workshops with an automation rate of over 85%, and energy-saving equipment, which enable the company to save power consumption by 3,200 MWh, natural gas by 106,000 cubic meters, and carbon emissions by 2,000 tons each year.

On the other hand, the company has been endeavoring to make its products and logistics eco-friendly, including using recyclable materials and optimizing the delivery process to reduce carbon emissions by vehicles.

Moreover, a task group has been working in the Suzhou factory since 2020 to support the implementation of ESG strategy.
