On May 31, the 2025 Jinji Lake Dragon Boat Race kicked off at Moon Harbor, SIP with a fanfare of drums.
The event, designed to celebrate the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival, was sponsored by the Publicity Department of the CPC Suzhou Committee, Suzhou Sports Bureau, and SIP Administrative Committee, and organized by SIP-based New Era Group and Sungent Group.
The event brought together 69 teams consisting of 1,502 rowers, including both professional crews and dragon boat race enthusiasts from home and abroad.
The event began with vibrant lion and dragon dances. Spectators flocked to the lakeside early, securing prime viewing spots along Jinji Lake.
As the races began, the water came alive with a flurry of paddles and roaring teamwork. The teams sprinted toward the finish line, while the spectators cheered loudly on the banks.
Around the lake, diverse fairs and bazaars highlighting dragon boat culture attracted many people. Visitors could try to make art works with traditional crafts, enjoy delicious food, and experience the integration of advanced technology with dragon boats.
Concurrently, an online store was opened, offering co-branded T-shirts, mascot bookmarks, and limited-edition “Dragon Coffee” among other products.
