SIP Library has upgraded its “Reading Bus” service recently, with seven special lines elaborately designed to bring readings to cultural tourism destinations, shopping spots, enterprises, communities, residential quarters for young talents, schools, and fire departments.
For example, visitors to the Sunset Fair at Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre Lakeside Square and The Archaeological Site Park of Caoxieshan may have the chance to sit down in a bus and read for a while when they feel tired.
It is worth mentioning that the “Reading Bus” line for firefighters, an outcome of the cooperation between SIP Library and SIP Fire Brigade, is the first of its kind in SIP. It is designed to offer a reading respite to those who safeguard the area.
The “Reading Bus” service was launched in SIP in 2012. Statistics show that the buses averagely serve over 200 times each year, benefiting about 50,000 people. The upgrade is expected to popularize reading to a wider scope.
